Levitek specializes in creating, maintaining, and improving a Digital Thread.
Why create a Digital Thread?
BOM Synchronization
Keep BOM views in different systems synchronized. Use eBOMs in PLM to drive mBOMs in ERP and other downstream applications.
Duplicate Data Entry
Eliminate the additional work and risk associated with entering the same information into multiple systems. Automatically update Item data across all systems.
Process Automation
Manual workflow tasks and disconnected workflows prevent automation. The Digital Thread improves workflow automation within and across systems.
Data Quality
Digital Thread solutions proactively identify gaps, inconsistencies, and duplicates in data. An active Digital Thread solution will validate, cleanse, and normalize data.
Viewables
The Digital thread ensures that the correct documentation is provided to the builders on the shop floor or the service agents in the field.
Reporting and Analytics
Create meaningful reports, real-time dashboards, and run advanced analytics using high quality, synchronized data stored in multiple systems.
Master Data Management
Creating a singular master record of each item in the enterprise requires consolidated, integrated datasets.
Digital Twin
The Digital Thread maintains the connection between the physical product and its digital representation and enables traceability to any stage of its lifecycle.
What is required to have a Digital Thread?
Step 1
Consolidate and normalize PLM data
Many enterprises have multiple PDM/PLM systems and multiple ERP systems. Additionally, they may manage PLM data in non-PLM systems. The first step in building a digital thread is to standardize on one PLM system and on one ERP system When properly migrated, consolidated data will natively link objects that were previously in different systems. This reduces IT overhead, reduces 3rd party integrations, manual data entry, and cost of maintaining redundant PLM/ERP systems.
Step 2
Integrate PLM with other enterprise applications.
Not all datasets can or should be consolidated into PLM. The functionality is too diverse; for example, manufacturing data can be managed more efficiently in ERP. However, much of the data in PLM is needed in ERP and vice-versa. When an organization standardizes with the intent of integration, the value of their consolidation is maximized; the data will flow better between the systems since fewer conflicts/gaps exist.
